ABOUT RIVER RUSS JOHNSTON

River Russ Johnston was born in Sacramento (the RIVER CITY) in 1960.  He got his first kayak at the ripe old age of eight.  His family has a history of being well known entrepreneurs in Sacramento, owning (among other things) Poor Nick’s Restaurant in Fair Oaks Village and Harold’s Plumbing, also in Fair Oaks.  So, it is not surprising that Russ would follow in his family’s footsteps and develop I KAYAK & RAFT.

With over forty years experience on the water, be it whitewater, touring or even the Delta, Russ’ main goal is to get as many people on the water and enjoying nature as is humanly possible.  He offers a literal lifetime of experience, passion and love for the sports of both kayaking and rafting.  His enthusiasm is contagious.  A kid at heart, but a professional to the letter, there is no one better to work with.  As Russ himself says, “Are ya thinkin’?  Shall we run a river today?”  Check out the website and find out how…
